Get Involved
The HSCA puts on events big and small throughout the school year. To pull them off, we need an army of parents, teachers, support staff, students, grandparents, friends, anyone who can lend us a hand!
We know everyone has their own commitments, and so with the variety of different events we put on, each has different needs.
Sub-Committees
Christmas Fair or Summer Fair
Our biggest events help needed planning for months beforehand, working with suppliers, sponsors, volunteers, and of course volunteering on the day. Maybe you can help with the organising, but not on the day? A lot of planning tasks can be completed flexibly round your other commitments, either during the day, or on evenings or weekends, a little at a time.
Of course we also need a lot of volunteers on the day. Maybe you can spare just one hour to run a stall or game? Signup online for these slots at www.pta-events.co.uk/hsca.
Fundraising & Sponsorship
Are you someone who thinks outside the box? Or maybe you’ve got the gift of the gab and can get blood from a stone? Our fundraising team look at new initiatives to generate income from the schools, whether this is new event ideas, partnerships with local businesses, or something else.
2nd Hand Uniform
Our uniform team run termly sales. We collect the uniform donated by parents, check everything for quality, and then ensure its sorted ready for sale. These sales are sometimes at the larger events, sometimes for 1/2 an hour after school. New for 2025 - we’re working on getting uniform sales online, so we’ll need some help sorting out uniform on a weekly basis to get it to the right parents.
Summer Festivals
These are some of our most popular in-school events - getting the children covered in glitter, putting on music or inflatables to celebrate the end of the school year! We need people who can help with planning, or can come along on the day to help out!
Mothers / Fathers Day Sales
When Mothers and Fathers day come around we get through thousands of presents! Each child can come and buy a gift from us for their parents, grandparents, or other role models. The children love choosing something personally, and can take their gift home and decorate the gift bag. To prep, we need volunteers to bag up the gifts ahead of the day. We also need parents free during the school day to help at the sales themselves!
Join the Community
We have a WhatsApp community which hosts all of our sub-committee groups. If you’re interested in getting involved, contact us, and we can add you to the community. From there, you can choose which sub-committees to dip into!
Planning Committees not for you?
If you’d like to get involved with events by volunteering on the day, without being added to planning WhatsApp groups, then use our Contact Us form to be added to our volunteer register.
As and when we recruit volunteers for each event, we’ll reach out to you!
Why should I get involved?
There are many reasons why you should the HSCA. From making new friends and getting to know the school environment, through to helping raise much needed funds and making a difference to the children and school community. All of these things help you grow in confidence as a parent and it feels good to know you are making a difference for your children and for generations to come.
What will be expected of me?
There is no expectation on any parent volunteer, any amount of time you can give to the HSCA will always be well received. There are a variety of ways you can get involved, from engaging with social media activity (give us a like or share a post!) through to volunteering at events or coordinating events. Even donating preloved items, raffle prizes or suggesting brilliant ideas are ways of getting involved. There seems to be a myth that if you get involved with the HSCA you will never be able to escape! Parents can come to our meetings to just listen and learn, or you can take a more active role if you want to, there are no set expectations.
