affordable family fun at our huge summer fair!

The HSCA Summer Fair is the biggest event of our school year. We take over the playground and playing field with lots of family fun. We’ll have lots of stalls and games, with plenty to see and do. There will be inflatables to help the children let off some steam. Our performance arena features performances from local groups and clubs from within the school. We’ll have the annual tug-of-war too!

The event is a major fundraising source - with funds going to important projects for both Hook Junior and Infant schools. This year, with your support, we have funded iPads, playground equipment, and the expansion and improvement of the Junior playground.

We will have our huge raffle with a chance to win lots of great prizes! Plus there will be our second hand uniform sale and fantastic food and drink!

Make sure the date is in your diary - it’s free to enter! Read on for more info or to volunteer or buy raffle tickets!

PERFORMANCE ARENA

Our event arena is the focal point of the event, with performances from children and local groups.  We are privileged to have so many talented children at the schools. A big thank you to the teachers and group leaders for their hard work curating such fantastic performances.

Volunteer

The Summer Fair is important to the children - and we can’t pull it off without an army of volunteers. Teachers, Support Staff, Parents, Grandparents and Students all rally round to pull off the summer fun!

We need 150 volunteers, for event setup or to run a stall or game. If you can help for just 1 hour, please sign up using the link below.

You can volunteer with your child - they love collecting the tokens or resetting a game! Year 5s and older can run a game by themselves.

All adult volunteers are entered into a draw to win a bottle of prosecco, and all child volunteers are entered into a draw to win a special prize.

Tombolas

The cornerstone of any Summer Fair, our tombolas are always very popular. Run by the school teachers and staff, send your little ones along to try their luck pulling tickets.

Junior Tombola

On Friday 26th June, there will be a non-uniform day. Students are asked to bring in a bottle for donation to the tombola. This can be a bottle of anything, alcoholic, non-alcoholic, shampoo, washing up liquid. If it comes in a bottle - then it’s in! Please make sure all bottles are in-date where applicable.

Infants Tombola

The same for the infants, it’s non-uniform time on Friday 26th June. Students are asked to bring in a Jolly Jar! What is a Jolly Jar? Take a glass jam jar, wash it out, and fill it with something exciting. This could be a small toy, some craft materials, sweets, colouring, or an activity. Pop the lid on your jar and then get creative - decorate it with stickers, paints, glitter - whatever tickles your fancy!

FAIR GAMES

PROUDLY SUPPORTED BY

SALESIAN COLLEGE

A summer fair wouldn’t be complete without traditional fair games!

We’ve got a selection of classic games for children of all ages to take on - with some great prizes if they win!

Thank you to our sponsor Salesian College - their donation covers the cost of the prizes - ensuring every penny goes straight to supporting our schools.

This will be a quiet place for those children who might otherwise become overwhelmed by all of the activity, and will provide a rest area along with various toys and equipment kindly donated by Waitrose.  The tent will only be able to accommodate a few children at a time.

We want the Summer Fair to be inclusive for all students, and so we would like to ensure parents are aware of the new Quiet tent.  We hope it might mean some families who would otherwise avoid the event, will be able to enjoy it too.

Numbers will be limited to 6 people at a time, but we hope to be able to make space and time for those who need it.

Please walk where you can, we hope it will be a lovely summer day, and there will likely be other users of the car park in Hartletts Park.

  • No parking on both sites will be closed to the public during the event. Please walk if you can, alternatively park in Hartlett’s Park or Crossways Manor Pay & Display

  • In accordance with usual school policies, dogs are not permitted anywhere on the Infant or Junior sites, with the exception of registered assistance dogs.

  • The school site is accesible to all. The event takes place on the school field which is flat, but may not be suitable for all wheelchairs. If you are a blue badge holder and need to park onsite, you can do so in the Junior School car park. Please let us know in advance and we will make additional spaces available to meet demand. Our volunteers will be on hand to assist as needed. If you have any particular requirements to help you enjoy the event, please contact us to discuss and we will do all we can to help.

Please only use this facility if you’re unable to park in Hartlett’s Park - as we’d rather avoid vehicles being onsite.
